Whether you’re a student, professional, bilingual speaker, attorney, or simply passionate about justice, there’s a place for you at SFILDC! We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who are eager to learn, grow, and support families navigating the immigration system.

There are many ways to get involved! Below are a few examples of how volunteers can contribute:

  • Family and immigration law pro bono services
  • Interpretation during Immigration Court hearings, Asylum Office interviews, or attorney-client meetings
  • Written translation of legal documents
  • Court observation to document due process issues and support transparency in immigration proceedings
  • Accompanying community members to Immigration Court to provide moral support and help them navigate the process
  • Clinic support, including welcoming participants, helping with forms, and providing general logistical assistance during legal clinics

How can we help?

“For me, acting as pro bono counsel has given me the opportunity to help a great family while doing work that is totally different from what I do each day.  The opportunity to do meaningful pro bono work that will directly impact the life of these children has provided me with perspective and helped to keep me grounded.”

“Alejandro would have a much harder time achieving his dreams and becoming a productive member of our society without legal status.  I would not have been able to help him obtain that status without the expert support from the lawyers at KIND who guided me through the process of successfully representing Alejandro.  I am very grateful for this opportunity and I hope other lawyers in the City also have a chance to help deserving clients like Alejandro in the future!.”
